Prospective Students

TARGET POPULATION FOR CAREER SERVICES

Welcome to the Career Construction and Employability page. Please read the following important information if you would like to know about career related services and more about these services at Emthonjeni Student Wellness. Counsellors at student counselling work with the following populations:

  • Current Mandela University students considering a course change
  • Prospective students
  • Employees referred by Industry/Companies (e.g., Isuzu - Missionvale campus)

Our aim as career counsellors is to assist students in choosing careers that are informed by thorough exploration and in this way promote access to the Nelson Mandela University and retention.

The Career Counselling Process is designed for individuals requiring assistance with their career choice, it can be a one or two-day process. The first day is a group assessment session (every first Saturday of the month or during the school holidays), which will be followed by an individual career counselling session. The individual counselling date will be confirmed by the counsellor immediately after the assessment session. Please note that we do cater for individual assessment sessions followed by an individual career session during the week, but this is dependent on the availability of counsellors during the week.

The cost for the whole process, including a 2-page summary report, is R800. A comprehensive report is also available at an additional cost of R400 which takes the total cost to an amount of R1200. All personal information shared will be handled confidentially. Emthonjeni Student Wellness will not disclose any information to any outside party, unless specifically requested by you.
