What is the
Aim
of this Core Competence?
The Counselling Development and Quality Enhancement (CDQE) Core Competence aims to ensure that SCCDC provides a quality counselling service and internship programme.
What
Specific Areas
does this core competence focus on?
It critically appraises the quality of SCCDC's counselling service and ensures that it adheres to the guidelines of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
It contributes to the professional development of SCCDC staff by coordinating an in-house C
ontinued Professional Development
(CPD) programme.
SCCDC is a registered training facility. This core competence therefore contributes to the training and development, supervision and evaluation of interns (e.g., Intern Psychologists, Registered Counsellors, etc).
To complement, reinforce and support the values, mission and goals of the NMMU.
To network, collaborate and foster interdependent relationships within and outside the SCCDC and NMMU.
To base our work on theory, research and best practice.
